TV Week Interview with Ada Nicodemou

After playing opposite Hollywood heart-throb Keanu Reeves in Matrix, and with roles in Heartbreak High and Police Rescue to her credit, beautiful Breakers star Ada Nicodemou seems set for the big time. But the former pupil of the Johnny Young Talent School has kept her feet firmly on the ground.

TV WEEK: As well as acting classes, you took singing and dancing lessons at the Johnny Young Talent School. Do you see yourself following in the footsteps of Kyle Minogue and Natalie Imbruglia and taking on a musical career?

ADA: No way! I have a terrible singing voice. I was in a show group so, of course, I had to dance and sing. I can keep a note that's about it.

TV WEEK: The acting world can be quite surreal at times. What keeps you grounded?

ADA: My family. Mum makes sure that i know this is only a job and it could end tomorrow. I just enjoy it for what it is, and don't take it too seriously.

TV WEEK: Where will you be five years from now?

ADA: Who knows? I take each day as it comes. In this industry, you don't really know what is going to happen tomorrow. The soap could end and i may not work for three years. I don't even know if i will keep acting.

TV WEEK: What was it like working with Keanu Reeves in Matrix? Would you like to do more movie roles?

ADA: Keanu was very professional and fun to work with. Yes, I would love to do more movie roles.

TV WEEK: How do you relax when you're away from the Breakers set?

ADA: I chill out by watching a movie, eating or taking a walk. I am a real boring person. I try to keep fit and go to the gym. I also see alot of my friends - most of them are not in the industry.

TV WEEK: What would be your ultimate acting role?

ADA: Acting beside Hollywood greats such as Al Pacino or Robert De Niro. I really admire what they do on the screen. I like the truth they bring to every character they play - they don't look like they're acting.

TV WEEK: How did you feel the first time you were recognised in the street?

ADA: For the first month I didn't deal with it well, because i am a shy person and like my privacy. But now i've learned to handle it.
